After a delicious breakfast at your hotel, meet your Egyptologist and begin your day trip to Egypt. Your first stop will be the famous Pyramids of Giza, one of the most famous and impressive monuments in the world. The necropolis of Giza is considered a sacred site in the history of ancient Egypt and you will have the opportunity to visit the Great Pyramid of King Cheops, also known as Cheops in ancient hieroglyphics. Your guide will take you on a journey back in time and tell you about the ancient Egyptian religion and how it influenced the construction of the incredible monuments built in honor of the gods of ancient Egypt.
During your visit to the Pyramids of Giza, you will have the opportunity to enter the Valley Temple of Khafre, the successor of King Khafre, whose pyramid complex is the only complete one of all the pyramids in Egypt. You will also see the Great Sphinx, located within the complex and carved for the king himself in the mythical figure of a lion with the head of a man. In ancient Egyptian culture, this symbolized that the king possessed both authority and ferocity.
After visiting the Pyramids of Giza, the next stop on your tour of Coptic and Islamic Cairo is the Citadel of Saladin. This medieval fortress was built in the 12th century by the famous Sultan Saladin and is a must-see in Cairo.
